Learn, Progress, Belong
Not every sport works for everyone.
Yo-yoing gives you the freedom to learn, create and progress in your own way.
ABOUT US

Growing up, finding the right sport or activity wasn’t always easy. With ADHD, autism and other challenges, many traditional sports just didn’t feel like the right fit. Busy environments could be overwhelming, instructions could be difficult, and sometimes it felt like there wasn’t a place to truly belong.
Then came the yo-yo.
What started as something simple became something much bigger. There was always another trick to learn, another skill to improve and another challenge to work towards. Yo-yoing could be practised anywhere, at your own pace, in your own way.
Over time, that simple yo-yo grew into competitions, new styles like off-string, incredible achievements and a passion for helping others discover the sport.
That is why yo-yoing is such an important part of Spinning Axis. We want to show people who haven't found their sport yet that there is another option. A place to learn, create, challenge yourself and belong.
Because sometimes, finding the right activity can change everything.
How did I get into yoyoing?
It all started when my mum bought me a yo-yo. For someone like me with ADHD, it was the perfect outlet for my energy and focus. I knew what a yo-yo was, but honestly I had no idea what I was doing — I was just excited to try. I went on Google to learn, and what I saw completely blew my mind. Tricks I thought were impossible were actually possible with patience, practice, and determination.
Learning yo-yo helped me build confidence, improve my focus, and feel proud of what I could achieve. It showed me that having a busy mind can be a strength when you find the right activity. That is why I now want to share this skill and passion with others, especially young people and those with special needs, to help them feel capable, calm, and inspired to keep trying new things.

What does the future hold for me?
My goal is to show people that it’s okay to be different and to choose a sport or style that works for you.
I’ll continue competing in X Division and off-string (4A), working towards my dream of winning my first 1st place Australian National title.
I also want to teach more people off-string yo-yoing. Lots of people know traditional yo-yoing, but fewer have experienced the challenge and excitement of off-string.
Learning more than one style makes you a more creative and versatile player. You don’t have to do the same thing as everyone else — find your own style, express yourself and make yo-yoing your own.
